Speaking of long, pointless drives undertaken for no good reason, the most recent issue of my college alumni magazine has a feature about road trips. I never took a road trip per se while I was in college, but I certainly made my share of long drives. As I suggested I might, I dropped by the Nielsen Tennis Stadium at UW-Madison to watch the Cornell College women's tennis team play in the Midwest Conference Championship. Homecoming Weekend has just come to an end here in Madison, and as such things are measured, it was a huge success. An estimated 10,000 people turned out to watch the Homecoming parade, which is pretty impressive considering the parade route is only five blocks long, and the Badger football team ran rampant over the Northwestern University Wildcats ( Read more... )

U.S. News and World Report has released its 2014 college rankings, and I'm pleased to see my alma mater rates pretty well. They were ranked #97 on the national liberal arts colleges list, tied with Hampden-Sydney College and Washington and Jefferson College.
